Each scholar must meet with Professor Burgess during the first two weeks of the semester to create a reading list of both primary and secondary texts for inclusion in the Annotated Bibliography and, ultimately, to be used in the Literary Analysis Capstone Essay. Scholars should expect to read at least 20-25 sources.
Primary sources are the literary works (and/or other media) you will analyze for the Literary Analysis. You may choose to focus your literary analysis on a single text or just two or three texts, but you should explore a variety of primary texts before you decide which one(s) to choose as the focus for your project.
Secondary Sources: Secondary sources are sources that talk about primary sources or that provide supporting information relevant to the primary sources. These can be sources that analyze the primary source or sources that relate to the primary source, its author/creator, its target audience, its form or genre, and/or its context in some way.
