Citation, or attribution, is important for a number of reasons. It ensures people are given credit for their work. It lets the audience know where they can find the original material. It can also inform the credibility or lack of credibility of a source.
While the Purdue Online Writing Lab provides an extensive APA (7th) Formatting and Style Guide, the CSN Libraries also has library guide that provides additional examples of completed reference citations and in-text citations.
While citation is often associated with written work, verbal use of a source still requires citation or attribution. If you're unfamiliar with the technique of oral citation, there is also a library guide for that:
