Book Inspection Assignment (PHIL 102)

Contacting a Librarian

Getting Started with Your Book Inspection Assignment

Ted Chodock, the class librarian, can help you find and borrow the books you need for this assignment. Please familiarize yourself with the assignment's requirements, posted in Canvas, before contacting him. Use the chat box below to ask him for assistance during his online office hours.

Virtual office hours for Spring 2021:

Tuesday: 10am - 2pm
Wednesday: 12pm - 4pm

You can also email him: ted to make an appointment outside of office hours.

Set up a time to meet virtually by chat, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams or email him with questions and he will try to respond within 2 days.

Also, any of the CSN librarians can help you find and borrow the books you need for this assignment. Use the chat box below or the email link, when chat isn't available, to get assistance.

Please note: If you need assistance quickly, please be sure to contact Ted before Friday at 5pm. On weekends he is not checking emails. Chat, however, is available during the weekend, on Saturday from 9am - 2pm and Sunday 10am - 3pm and 6pm - 11pm.

Curbside Book Delivery

You can use a physical book or an ebook for this assignment. However, there is a better selection of physical books that meet the requirements. While the campus libraries are closed and won't reopen until February 1, you can still get the book you need.

Curbside Pickup is available from January 19th until January 28th!

Here's a description of this service:

"Simply request a book online in our catalog, wait for your email that it’s ready, then come to the campus where you requested to pick it up.

Be sure to bring your photo ID! Park in one of the designated library curbside pickup spots and call the phone number provided on the sign. One of our friendly library staff members will bring out your books to you!

Don’t forget your mask since it’s required on campus, especially when interacting with library staff." Stephanie Espinoza Villamor, CSN librarian

Key pointers:

1) Use the Find Books tile on the CSN Libraries website to find the book you need. Remember, all the librarians (contact through chat) are here to help.

2) To request a book, you have to sign in to your account. Your CSN Libraries ID and password are the same as they are for Canvas and MyCSN.

Fun Video on Curbside Book Delivery

Here's a super creative video on a similar service, called Library Takeout, offered at Duke University. The only difference is that you call when you arrive while they schedule a pickup time:
